Qionghai Dai is the professor of Department of Automation, Tsinghua University. Prof. Dai is recognized as a leading researcher in video processing & communication in China. He has published 4 books and book chapters, and 255 referred journal and conference papers. He holds 70 patents. Prof. Dai is an IEEE Senior Member.
Qionghai Dai received the Ph.D. degrees from Northeastern University, China, in 1994 and 1996. From 1997 to 1999, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Automation, Tsinghua University. Since 1999, he has been with the faculty of Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, and is currently Professor and the Director of the Broadband Network and Digital Media Laboratory. He now also serves as the associate dean of the Department of Automation.
Prof. Qionghai Dai was the winner of the National Outstanding Youth Science Foundation, the general chair of the 10th International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Multimedia (MUM2011), the financial chair of the 24th Picture Coding Symposium (PCS2006).
His main research interests include video processing & communication. The current research issues include light field, stereo video, 3D scene reconstruction, dynamic high-resolution imaging, intelligent image understanding & retrieval, MIMO source coding, video coding, and the transmission & reconstruction of the wireless video.
