DAI Qionghai was born on December 26,1964. He received the B.S. degree in mathematics from Shanxi Normal University, China, in 1987, and the M.E . and the Ph.D. degrees in Computer Engineering and Automatic Control from Northeastern University, China, in 1994 and 1996, respectively. After being a Postdoctoral Research Affiliate at the Institute for Information Processing, Department of Automation, Tsinghua University, Beijing, he has been with Center for Broadband Multimedia Information R&D at School of information Science and Technology, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, where he is currently an Associate Professor and head of the Center. His present research interests are in nonlinearity, signal processing, automatic control, and broadband network technology.
Research areas:
Digital video processing and communication, and the current interests mainly lay in scalable video coding, distributed coding, wireless video communication, 3DAV and so on.
Professional Activities:
Executive Chair, International Symposium on Broadcasting Technology (biyearly Symposium), 2001, 2003 , 2005 and 2007.
Co-Chair, 25th Picture Coding Symposium (PCS 2006), Beijing, China, April, 2006.
One of national development & evolution digital TV field specialist group member.
Associate Editor for Advances in Multimedia, 2006-present.
